My Story:

Years ago when I was working at the mall, I ran into a middle aged disabled White woman whom had her dog with her as her companion. She seemed nice so I began talking to her. I asked if her dog was friendly, which one should always do before petting a dog that you don't know. She told me he was, but has had enough attention for the day.

I thought that was odd, but I said ok and I went about my business heading into work.

Within a couple minutes, I saw the same woman be approached by two White males and they began to pet her dog, without her saying a thing. It quickly became clear to me that she did not want me to pet the dog because I was Black.
