Fighting for Health Equity - Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, a Young Professionals of Seattle Impact Partner

This quarter, Young Professionals of Seattle is proud to shine a spotlight on Health Equity—a crucial issue chosen by our community through our annual Community Impact Survey. Every year, we ask you—our members, neighbors, and partners—to tell us what matters most in your region. Your responses shape everything we do, from the causes we support to the partners we elevate.

Health Equity: A Vital Concern

In the Greater Seattle Area, Health Equity emerged as one of the top concerns. This highlights our shared desire to break down barriers to care and address disparities in access, treatment, and outcomes. That’s why we’re partnering with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS)—an organization dedicated to providing life-saving resources to all communities.

Why LLS Matters

LLS is the largest nonprofit in the world focused on eliminating blood cancers. They’ve invested more than $1.8 billion in pioneering research. LLS is committed to ensuring equitable and affordable access to care for every patient—regardless of zip code, income, race, or background.

In the Pacific Northwest, their impact is both powerful and personal:

  • $5.2 million in co-pay assistance to local patients

  • $207,000 in urgent financial aid

  • $55,000 in travel assistance

  • 3,988 patients and caregivers supported

  • Research funded at Fred Hutch, UW, Seattle Children’s, and more

And that’s just the beginning.

LLS doesn’t stop at research. They work across policy, advocacy, education, and patient services to eliminate systemic disparities. Through initiatives like IMPACT Grants, Myeloma Link, and the Latino Outreach Initiative, they break barriers for those often overlooked by the healthcare system.

This partnership aligns perfectly with YPC’s broader objective: to build support ecosystems where everyone—particularly those from underserved communities—can thrive.

Join the Campaign: Q2 Events + How to Get Involved

We’re integrating LLS into every part of our quarterly campaign. Here are various ways to make a difference:
