YPCommunities bridges people to communities and resources by providing inclusive experiences that connect, educate and empower.

ABOUT YPCOMMUNITIES

YPCommunities, the largest young professional network in the US, bridges the gap between people, resources, and their respective communities.  We do this by applying a simple philosophy to the way we mobilize and engage with members of the community: be inclusive, be intentional, and be responsive.  

 

YPCommunities is comprised of three divisions, YPOx, ProDev, and YP Impact; each with a data-driven focus on the most relevant needs that connect people, resources and their communities. 

 

What started as a locally held, independently managed event series, has evolved into a 501(c)3 platform responsible for facilitating personal connection, professional growth and social impact while building and connecting communities across the country.  

BOARD RESPONSIBILITY
The Board will support the work of YPCommunities and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by the Executive Director, the Board-Executive Director relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected.

 

  • Establish policy for the Board and YPCommunities

  • Assist in fundraising by introducing sponsors, donors, contacts, and /or corporate members to the organization to ensure adequate funding for the organization

  • Approve YPCommunities annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; be informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities

  • Oversee the performance Executive Director and provide him/her/them with the resources to meet the needs of those the organization serves

  • Create and update the organization’s strategic plan with the Executive Director

EXPECTATIONS OF THE BOARD MEMBER

  • Serve for a minimum of 2 years

  • Attend at least 70% of monthly board meetings

  • Join and attend meetings of at least one board committee

  • Attend board orientation, and annual board retreat

  • Make an annual financial contribution that is significant and meaningful to you 

  • Be available for consultation to members of the Board and the Executive Director

  • Identify, and/or recruit Board or Board Committee prospects or members

  • Attend and/or promote annual fundraising events

  • Commit to at least one cultivation activity per year

  • Act as a voting member of the Board of Directors

  • Represent YPCommunities and its mission in the community
