About the Event

OVERVIEW

Join Young Professionals of Seattle as we volunteer by creating school supply kits for historically marginalized students with Communities in Schools on August 13th and 14th!  It’s easy, and fun and you can make a huge difference!

The kits will be handed out to students and families at the Street Fair Communities in Schools is hosting on August 18th, which there is also an opportunity to volunteer at!

Let’s help create these kits basic school necessities to help set up the students for success! Because all students, regardless of circumstance, deserve the same opportunities to reach their potential!

ABOUT COMMUNITIES IN SCHOOLS

Communities In Schools® (CIS®) was founded as a social justice organization over 40 years ago. Their purpose is to provide resources and supports for historically marginalized students to address inequalities prevalent in our educational system.

At Communities In Schools, they believe that every student, regardless of race, gender, ability, zip code, or socioeconomic background has what they need to realize their full potential in school and beyond. CIS walks by their side, in their communities, to challenge the systems and barriers that stand between them and their success in life.

In Washington state, Communities in Schools, operate as a network of 11 independent affiliates, 3 emerging affiliates, and the CIS of Washington state office.
