The Hot Seat (Fireside Chat) is a moderated conversation featuring leaders and people of influence from the business community and public sector. By highlighting stories of success (primarily from women and people of color), this event is designed to be an inspirational, mentorial resource for entrepreneurs and professionals.
About Your Guest:
Brendan Flores is the Consumer Banking Performance Manager for the West Florida team. In his role at Bank of America, Flores leverages more than 18 years of industry experience to drive consumer and small business results across 130 of the bank’s locations in West Florida, totaling over 25 billion dollars in deposit share. In 2016, Flores was elected as the first millennial and youngest-ever President and National Chairman of the National Federation of Filipino American Associations. As National Chairman of NaFFAA, Brendan is responsible for leading the largest national affiliation of Filipino American institutions, organizations, and individuals to unite and amplify the voices of the four million Filipinos and Filipino Americans living in the United States.
Brendan is a recipient of the ABS-CBN North America Gawad Geny Lopez Bayaning Pilipino Award (Global Filipino Hero). He was also honored as one of the most Outstanding Filipino Americans in the United States, a Global Innovator Awardee, and the National Academy Foundation’s Alumni Honoree of the Year. He was recently named one of the Top 40 Asian Americans Pacific Islanders’ political operatives and public affairs professionals under 40 in the US and one of the ten most influential Filipinos in the world by WorldRemit. He was also named as Top 40 under 40 in the Gulf Coast by Florida Business Observer, and a recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award.
Brendan continues to be active within his community, expanding his professional sphere and promoting personal growth. He’s a foodie who loves boxing, as well as an avid traveler who enjoys exploring the world and learning new cultures.
About Your Host, Rubelyn Chu:
Rubelyn Chu is the GM of ProDev, part of the YPC non-profit organization, and Co-Founder of Access2, a sourcing and staffing marketplace that operates in tandem with community organizations. We help ensure that space is occupied by providing opportunity through events and storytelling through our unique platform, one of them being sports.
Rubelyn is also part of the Alumni Advisory Board and Advisee in the Entrepreneurship Program at Northwest University and is a mentor to local high school and college students and in the local startup community. When she isn’t working, she can be found in the gym, going on road trips/traveling or with family and friends.
