About the Event
In honor of Women's History Month, Young Professionals of Seattle is collaborating with United Way and a few other local young professional groups to host an event bringing practical tips and resources to our Seattle community.
ABOUT THE EVENT
Get yourself a new headshot, and learn to advocate for yourself across fields from notable professionals during Pay Us What We’re Worth! Whether you are into the arts or pursuing entertainment, a tour of the costume shops and an expansive wardrobe spanning decades will put a smile on your face. Plus, plenty of time for Q&A and personal networking.
From 2023-2024, we witnessed writers' strikes and pay equity awareness from mainstream actors to your favorite female soccer players. Just last year, the ”Disclosure of Wage and Salary Range” became law across Washington State. Take advantage of these changes and grow your career while connecting with leaders in our community who are passionate about giving back.
Pay Us What We’re Worth is brought to you by Young Professionals of Seattle and 5 of the city’s prominent young professional groups: Seattle Metro Chamber Young Professionals Network, United Way of King County’s Emerging Leaders 365, Seattle Urban League Young Professionals, Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Seattle, and Bravo young professionals.
All are welcome to attend and we’ll see you there!
In addition to RSVPing here, please get your ticket on UWKC website.
WHAT ELSE CAN I EXPECT?
Dive into fireside chats with our city’s trailblazing women and allies who’ll share insights, insider tips, and tricks from across industries like sports, startups, law, tech, and more to help you claim your worth! Our expert panel includes:
- Starla Sampaco: Forbes Columnist and Self-Advocacy Expert
- Shirline Wilson: Executive Director, Washington Employers for Racial Equity
- Leesa Manion: King County Prosecuting Attorney
ABOUT THE VENUE
The Opera Center is our newest endeavor to provide state-of-the-art Education, Artistic, and Civic spaces to the residents and visitors of Seattle and the greater Pacific Northwest Area. Through integrated operations, new partnership opportunities, increased community-wide programs, and a broad economic impact for the region, we can do more than ever before to unlock opera for all.
While we will continue to present performances and programs in the adjacent Marion Oliver McCaw Hall, our administrative and production spaces have been in a building at the end of its useful life. With careful consideration in 2015, Seattle Opera’s Board of Directors moved forward with an incredible plan to build a new purpose-built facility which will revitalize the northeast corner of the Seattle Center Campus. Our new civic home will be a community resource where Seattle Opera will:
- Serve thousands more with a dedicated space for dynamic Education and Community Engagement programs to meet the growing needs of our broad community
- Create an environment for world-class artistry in a new, purpose-built facility
- Establish a welcoming and accessible community resource on the Seattle Center campus
