About the Event
Join us on National Get Outdoors Day, June 8th for our first hike as part of our Get Outside! event series! We will be hiking Coal Creek Falls Loop, a wonderful destination for any hiker looking for an easy to moderate picturesque trail with many wildflower species, a thick canopy, and a 28-foot waterfall. Â Located in the Cougar Mountain Regional Wildlife Park the trail is 2.5 miles roundtrip and will take approximately 1.5-2 hrs. Many trails interconnect with Coal Creek Falls Loop. We will get to the trail via Red Town Trail and Cave Hole Trail
There is a large parking lot at the trailhead, but it’s heavily used and fills up quickly.  To help with the parking issue and make the hike accessible for those without cars, we will be meeting at The Mercer Island Park & Ride (80th Ave SE and N Mercer Way) at 9:15am to carpool before we begin hiking at 10am.
The trailhead is equipped with two privies, garbage cans, a picnic table, historical interpretive signage, and doggie bag dispenser. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash.
We will be working up an appetite so if you are interested we will be grabbing some food and drink after.
