EquityED 2024: An Antiracist Education Conference

Welcome to EquityED 2024, an antiracist education conference presented by the Community Network Council, where learning meets liberation in a celebration of growth, community, and progress! We invite you to joyfully reimagine an equitable society through Transformative Teaching.

Get ready for two days curated with engaging workshops, thought-provoking discussions, and inspiring speakers, all aimed at equipping you with the tools, skills, and insights needed to create inclusive and empowering spaces within any educational setting. We’ll come together on Wednesday, October 2nd and Thursday, October 3rd at the Hilton Seattle Airport & Conference Center in SeaTac to explore the transformative power of education. Our work is centered on making our conference an innovative, safe, and welcoming space, whether you're a teacher, student, parent, or community leader.

Imagine a space where learning is not just about acquiring knowledge, but about catalyzing real, lasting transformation. That's what our conference is all about. We tackle serious topics with care, recognizing the importance of addressing racial biases, preventing trauma, and fostering cultures of inclusivity.

From identifying and dismantling our own biases to understanding trauma's impact on health, teaching, and learning – our sessions will equip you with practical tools and strategies to create inclusive, empowering learning environments for all. We'll delve into the heart of increasing connection with Black students, cultural competence and conflict management, and the power of culturally responsive teaching.

But more than just professional development, this conference is about building community and forging collaborations with like-minded educators and leaders who are committed to creating a brighter, more equitable future for all.

Lunch and hearty snacks will be served both days, providing nourishment for both body and mind, while our after-party on the first day promises to keep the energy high and the connections flowing with tunes spun by a DJ and a select group of pop-up shops from sponsoring vendors who care deeply about education equity in our community and help us keep our conference affordable.

This inaugural conference marks a significant milestone for Community Network Council, which has been tirelessly working for over 15 years to foster equity and social justice in South Seattle and King County Schools. We are excited to share our expertise with you.
