I met one of my good friend’s girlfriend for the very first time.  In the course of exchanging small talk we discussed what each other does for a living.  I told her “I’m a teacher”.  Feeling proud that I had recently graduated with my bachelors degree in education, being the first in my family to do so.

Her reply was “You’re not a teacher, I’m a teacher”as she scoffed at the idea that we could be in the same line of work.

I simply replied “Yep I’m a teacher” somewhat leveling our career trajectory in that brief exchange. She sat infuriated.
